EBAC and American Medical Association (AMA) to enter agreement on conversion of CME credit points

EBAC and AMA have decided to enter into an agreement on conversion of CME credit points.

Following mutual recognition of accreditation systems between EBAC and the Accreditation Council for CME (ACCME) in 2015, EBAC has already started to offer to ACCME accredited providers to convert CME credits for European participants in American CME activities.

The decision of the AMA now makes this process reciprocal, and constitutes a cornerstone in making substantial equivalency between accreditation systems relevant to learners.

Since Oct. 1st, 2019, American participants can apply for conversion of their EBAC CME points to AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. This applies to

    • Live events (oral presentations with simultaneous presence of the audience
    • Other presentations of CME/CPD (including print media, CD-ROM, internet, e-books)
    • Closed educational units of less than one hour
    • Micro e-learning

Please take care that all your informational material (e.g. invitation flyer, program etc.) contains the following statement:

“Through an agreement between the European Board for Accreditation in Cardiology and the American Medical Association, physicians may convert EBAC External CME credits to AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Information on the process to convert EBAC credit to AMA credit can be found on the AMA website. Other health care professionals may obtain from the AMA a certificate of having participated in an activity eligible for conversion of credit to AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™.”
