EBAC Facts and Figures
Following 9 months of our activity, the time has
come to have a look at some figures: since the ESC Annual Congress
in Stockholm in 2001, EBAC has already accredited more than 40
CME events, and several other applications are currently in the
accreditation process. Accredited CME events have taken place
in 18 countries: Austria, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Greece,
Italy, Latvia, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Russian
Federation, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine and
Yugoslavia. This pan-European outreach has been possible thanks
to 50 CME providers aleady registered with EBAC.
EBAC is constantly working on consolidating its
relationship with National Cardiac Societies and national accreditation
authorities, informing them about EBAC activities and encouraging
mutual recognition as well as applications for EBAC accreditation.
The decision to award EBAC accreditation to annual
meetings of National Cardiac Societies held in the local language
was taken in April 2002. At the same time the societies are strongly
encouraged to enlarge the presence of international faculty and
to hold sessions in English in order to attract an international
audience.
In September 2002 EBAC will be launching its
12-month pilot project concerning accreditation of distance learning
educational activities. In this newsletter you will find the first
part of the " Policy
on Accreditation of CME Programmes Provided at Distance".
Your comments and suggestions are welcome.
