What's new

During the last decade EBAC has established robust criteria and clear procedures for accreditation of international CME/CPD activities in cardiovascular medicine.
Overall quality of EBAC accredited CME/CPD activities has been reported to be of high standard. Thus, EBAC has started a discussion on a concept for a pilot project "More CME Points for Higher Quality".
This pilot is meant to
- better differentiate between CME/CPD activities delivering outstanding quality compared to standard quality,
- stimulate providers and participants to further increase effectivity and efficiency of CME/CPD activities.
Since it has never been proven unequivocally that CME/CPD improves patient outcomes this pilot project will focus on optimization of procedural variables like interactivity, sustainability etc. The Joint EBAC Advisory and Reviewing Committees have already decided that potential new criteria to be used in the accreditation process have to meet the followig objectives:
- high likelihood for a major achievement regarding educational quality
- clear and easily administrable procedures
- low potential of misuse.
Currently conceptualization of pilots incl. ESC webinars, courses in cardiac anatomy and for advanced life support, respectively, has been started.
This pilot will be worked out in close cooperation with UEMS/EACCME, European scientific societies, UEMS Cardiology Section and European Cardiology Section Foundation (ECSF).
