Obtaining
EBAC Accreditation
The accreditation procedure
of EBAC is user-friendly. The entire accreditation procedure
uses an Internet-based system.
Upon registration with EBAC, the CME provider is asked to
complete an application form which contains questions concerning
the scientific content of the programme, the faculty, the
didactic approach and information on commercial support.
EBAC reviews only fully completed forms. Careful completion
of the application form will avoid delays in the accreditation
procedure.
After accreditation has been awarded, EBAC attributes
a number of CME credits to the CME programme. These credits
are indicated on the Accreditation Certificate which bears
the EBAC logo and accreditation statement.
This certificate authorises the CME provider to deliver Attendance
Certificates (with the EBAC logo and accreditation statement)
to participants at the end of the accredited activity.

The
Application Form
You can access the "Accreditation Services"
by clicking on the button placed on the left side of this
page. Detailed instructions are available to help you with
the application process.
Please pay attention when completing your contact
data (e-mail address, telephone and fax numbers) and keep
us informed of any changes.

Complementary
Requirements
EBAC expects the CME provider to:
1. Include in promotional materials and/or brochures
information on: the learning objectives, the targeted audience,
any possible or disclosed conflicts of interest and sources
of commercial support.
2. Prepare the programme of the event in such
a way that any possible accompanying satellite sessions and/or
commercially sponsored social events do not interfere, nor
compete with, the accredited CME event. Information that satellite
symposia (if any) are excluded from EBAC accreditation need
to be placed in the programme.
3. Deliver, at the end of the programme, an
Attendance Certificate to participants. Those certificates
should contain the standard EBAC text (in compliance with
the EACCME requirements), and indicate the number of CME credits
that the participant earned during the activity.
4. Distribute among the audience Evaluation
Forms which participants should be urged to complete. The
use of the EBAC Standard Evaluation Form is recommended.
5. Existence of any financial interest or other
relationship, a faculty member, or a CME provider has with
the sponsoring company or any commercial products discussed
during the CME course, must be publicly announced or indicated
before the programme.
6. Complete a post-event report after the event
has taken place.

Disclosure of
conflict of interest
EBAC pays careful attention to the objectivity
of the scientific content of a CME course.
EBAC regulations on disclosing potential conflict of interest
(ref. "Recommendations for CME Providers" - Documents
Library section) aims at assuring
that unbiased education is provided. Course directors and
faculty members of an accredited programme will be asked to
complete and sign an EBAC Disclosure Form.
EBAC will monitor accredited CME events on a
random basis. The monitoring procedure helps EBAC in evaluating
the compliance with EBAC requirements in practice.

Supporting a CME activity
Commercial support from industry is widely used
by CME providers and organisers. EBAC supports these forms
of cooperation provided they comply with the EBAC
guidelines for commercial support.
EBAC recommends the use of an "unrestricted educational
grant".

Evaluating the accredited
CME event
Three procedures are used to evaluate a completed
CME event:
| |
- Participants rate the quality
of the activity with an evaluation form (EBAC
recommends using the EBAC Standard Evaluation Form).
|
| |
- An EBAC representative regularly
monitors chosen CME events.
|
| |
- CME providers report to EBAC
after the activity using a post-event report.
