EBAC-Newsletter 2018 V: Cologne Consensus Conference to become live meeting of the International Academy for CPD Accreditation
On Sept. 13-14, 2018, the Cologne Consensus Conference 2018 was held in Ottawa, Canada, hosted by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
This year’s theme “What do our data tells us about value, providers, activities and learners in accredited CPD” attracted about 60 participants representing accreditation bodies, regulators, providers, and other stakeholders interested in evidence based CME- CPD accreditation.
The conference had been divided in four subsections devoted to data dealing with
- the current state, and value of accreditation
- CME delivered in live meetings, or
- in journals, and
- as online education.
CCC 2018 offered superb insight into what we know about quality, use, and effect of accredited CME-CPD. Presentations are going to be posted on the ECSF website soon.
Prior to the CCC 2018 the International Academy for CPD Accreditation (www.academy4cpd-accreditation.org) has held its live meeting and decided to make CCC the yearly live meeting of the International Academy.
The International Academy “is a network of colleagues, dedicated to promoting and enhancing continuing professional development (CPD) accreditation systems throughout the world. It is also devoted to assisting and supporting the development, implementation and evolution of CPD and continuing medical education (CME) accreditation systems throughout the world. Established in 2013, the Academy serves as a platform that facilitates peer-to-peer support for leaders of CPD/CME accreditation systems and encourages networking, mentoring and interactions about common issues.”
ECSF as well as the other co-organisers of CCC (US Accreditation Council for CME, Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada) highly welcomed International Academy as future co-organiser of CCC.
They decided to make “Standards and Guidelines in Accredited CPD” the theme of CCC 2019, to be held on Sept. 13-14, 2019 in Cologne, Germany.
